The Challenge:
When the folks at Never Enough Toys contacted me about designing a logo for their toy store, I was given a stick-figure sketch of an alien playing with toys. Aaron wanted something nostalgic and fun for the brick-and-mortar version of his vintage toy business.
As someone born in the '80s and, as I am, sort of a nerd, I was immediately sold on the project.
The Solution: The Nevers deal in retro toys, particularly deadstock finds from the '80s and '90s, which had me thinking back to the toy packaging I ripped open as a kid. That nostalgia became the foundation for the brand: a fun, over-the-top logo design paired with custom illustrations and playful typography.
This project is a good example of my approach to branding: really listening to what a client and their business need, even if that means going against convention. Would a logo this complex and detailed work for every client? No. But it works for Never Enough Toys, and honestly, it's fun to break the "rules" a little when the brand calls for it.
The Result:
This project was a joy to work on. The Nevers were super appreciative and applied the assets I gave them to many different branding items.
